Dr. Sheldon Steinmetz was born and raised in New York. He attended Purdue University, completing his Bachelor's in Animal Science and Agriculture. He earned his Masters of Agriculture and Nutrition from The University of Florida and then finally received his B.V.M.S at Glasgow University in Scotland. Dr. Steinmetz enjoys all aspects of veterinary medicine, although he does prefer the surgical sciences.
Dr. Steinmetz is married and has two children who live in New York City and Los Angeles. He and his wife have six dogs and one cat, which makes for a very busy household. In his leisure time, Dr. Steinmetz enjoys spending time with his family and pets. He also enjoys sculpture welding.
Dr. Dana Baruffo joined Mill Plain Veterinary Clinic in July 2015. Raised in nearby Duchess County, she now lives in New Milford, Connecticut. After completing her undergraduate studies at Stony Brook University in 2009, Dr. Baruffo received her Doctor of Veterinary Medicine degree with high honors from St. George's University in June 2015. Her clinical year of veterinary school was completed at The University of Tennessee. While she loves all aspects of veterinary medicine, Dr. Baruffo's special interests include internal medicine, oncology, and she is also a veterinary consultant for a local zoo.
At home, Dr. Baruffo lives with her husband Nick, three dogs, one cat, and too many fish to count! In her free time, she enjoys the outdoors -- especially gardening, fishing, and kayaking.
Dr. Nicole Toso joined the Mill Plain team in February 2018. Dr. Toso has lived in New York her entire life. She completed her undergraduate studies at SUNY Binghamton University, earning a Bachelor's degree in Biology in 2010. Before heading to veterinary school, she went on a cross-country road trip to explore all that the United States has to offer. Dr. Toso then received her Doctor of Veterinary Medicine degree from Ross University, and completed her clinical year at Cornell University. She enjoys all that veterinary medicine has to offer, but has special interests in internal medicine and surgery.
At home, Dr. Toso has one pet, an island dog named Zoey. In her free time, she enjoys playing video games and exploring new places.
Cookie has been with Mill Plain Veterinary Clinic since its inception in 1989. She is the office manager, head receptionist, and is married to Dr. Steinmetz. Cookie has two wonderful children, Michael and Amanda, and six dogs. Most days she goes by Cookie, but on payday we call her Fortune Cookie!
Always a friendly face, Amanda has been working the front desk of MPVC since 2008. She is a crossword-guru, and she can remember client and pet names like no other. Amanda has a sweet little girl at home, as well as her loving husband, a spunky pit-mix, and a chill cat. Fun fact: Amanda is trypophobic, but she’s still likes Dalmatians...
Maggie’s smiling face has been greeting clients at MPVC since 2014. She has a rescue dog named Ziggy who is her pride & joy -- take a peak behind the counter and you may even get to meet her dapper dog, bow-tie and all.
Kaylee is the newest receptionist on our team, joining us in 2017. Kaylee loves all animals but has a special place in her heart for pit bulls - she even has three of them zooming around at home.
Angela has been a nurse at MPVC since the beginning of time. Nick-named “the Cat Whisperer”, she is well-trained in animal handling, specifically with working dogs such as Rottweilers and Belgian Malinois’ -- Angela is a great resource for clients who are considering adopting a working breed! At home, Angela lives with her husband, two silly cats, a Belgian Malinois, a herd of Pomeranians, and a muscle car named Big Orange.
Sarah has been a nurse at Mill Plain Vet Clinic for the last 9 years. She has two adorable French Bulldogs named Henri & Hailey, and she would love to talk to you about any bulldog “problems” or concerns you may have! Fun fact: Sarah is Dr. Baruffo’s sister-in-law!
Krystal started out as an intern with MPVC in 2010 and worked her way up to kennel assistant and then veterinary nurse. Krystal attended tech school at Alfred State and will be finishing her degree this year. She has three rescue pets named Nitro, Weasley (Max), and Milton Bradley.
Jillian has been with MPVC since 2011, working her way up from a kennel assistant to veterinary nurse. She’s married with two rescue dogs and two cats, and she is an advocate for animal rescue.
Jessy has worked in the veterinary field for over 10 years and has been a nurse with MPVC for the last 3 years. She is the proud owner of two wonderful German Shepherds, Lincoln & Brooklyn, and shares a beautiful home in New Fairfield with her husband Charlie.
Kailee is a CVT who graduated from Becker College in 2016. She has a passion for working with animals and finds love in every pet that comes into the clinic. In her free time you can find Kailee spending time with her boyfriend in NYC or watching netflix cuddled up with her two cats Masi and Rascal.
Kayla has been in the veterinary field for 9 years, and joined MPVC after working at an all cat clinic. She loves all things involving kitties! When she is not working with furry friends, she is at home snuggling up to her pups and kitties.
Linse is our kennel manager and has been assisting the doctors at MPVC since 2015. You may hear Linse singing from back in the kennel, and she’s always looking for an answer to the universal question - “who let the dogs out?”. Linse is married with four dogs - Roxy, Rufus, Kujo, and Princess.
Michelle has been a veterinary assistant with MPVC since 2015. She loves fast cars and dachshunds, and has dreams of living near the beach someday.
Kayla joined the MPVC team in the summer of 2016. If you don’t see Kayla walking dogs or helping our doctors, it’s probably because she’s on a cruise ship somewhere warm! Kayla lives with her husband and sweet dog Lyla.
Aimee has been working in the veterinary field since 2014 and is currently completing schooling to become a certified veterinary nurse. She lives with her snuggly pitbull, ferocious minature pinscher, and her boyfriend.
