Dr. Sheldon Steinmetz was born and raised in New York. He attended Purdue University, completing his Bachelor's in Animal Science and Agriculture. He earned his Masters of Physiology and Nutrition from The University of Florida and then finally received his B.V.M.S at the Glasgow University in Scotland. Dr. Steinmetz enjoys all aspects of veterinary medicine, although he does prefer the surgical sciences.
Dr. Steinmetz is married and has two children who live in New York City and Los Angeles. He and his wife have eight dogs and one cat, which makes for a very busy household. In his leisure time, Dr. Steinmetz enjoys spending time with his family and pets. He also enjoys sculpture welding.
Dr. Dana Baruffo joined Mill Plain Veterinary Clinic in July 2015. Raised in nearby Duchess County, New York, she now lives in Brookfield, Connecticut. After completing undergraduate studies at Stony Brook University in 2009, Dr. Baruffo received her Doctor of Veterinary Medicine degree with honors from St. George's University in June 2015. Her clinical year of veterinary school was completed at The University of Tennessee. While she loves all aspects of veterinary medicine, Dr. Baruffo's special interests include internal medicine and oncology.
At home, Dr. Baruffo has a 7-year-old Weimaraner named April, and a 3-year-old "island cat" named Atreyu. In her free time, she enjoys the outdoors -- especially hiking, fishing, and kayaking.
Dr. Kristoffer Bauer, originally from Baltimore, Maryland, grew up on crab cakes and football. He completed his undergraduate degree at Saint Joseph's University and his V.M.D. at the University of Pennsylvania, which are both located in Philadelphia.
Dr. Bauer has run the Rocky steps, has visited all fifty states, but has never made brownies. He enjoys spending time with his fiancé, hiking with his golden retriever Calista, and playing hockey and lacrosse. Stand-up comedy was his first chosen profession, but he didn't get as many laughs as he would have liked. Dr. Bauer is always looking forward to meeting you and your furry friends, and he might even tell you a joke or two.
